Pursuing Justice by Ken Wytsma

PURSUING JUSTICE: THE CALL TO LIVE AND DIE FOR BIGGER THINGS by Ken Wytsma
Justice is an issue that has fallen victim to extremes.  Many conservative Christians have ignored it altogether, while many liberal Christians have turned it into the Social Gospel.  In Pursuing Justice, Ken Wytsma fights for the Biblical call for justice in our world and reveals the place of the poor and oppressed in the very heart of God.

I have to admit that I started this book with certain assumptions about how I would respond.  I thought it would be a liberal-based guilt trip about how terrible I am for having nice things while people around the world have nothing.  This book was none of those things.  While I may not agree with 100% of what the author said, I admit that I couldn’t this book down!  I saw Scriptures that I has ignored or glossed over for years.  Instead of making the reader feel guilty, Ken Wytsma simple seeks to provide education about the injustices in our world, and how some of our efforts to help may make us feel better, but only make problems worse for those who suffer.  This is a powerful book and I would encourage every Christian to read it with an open heart.  Yes, you will feel challenged, but more than that you will be educated and inspired to action – not out of guilt, but out of love for God and people.
