Book Review: "The One Jesus Loves" by Robert Crosby

In The One Jesus Loves, Robert Crosby takes the reader on a journey through the Gospels noting the different levels of relationships that Jesus had with those who followed Him, noting the common traits of each level of relationship.  Crosby examines six circles of relationship: the crowds who observed the words and works of Jesus, the five thousand who enjoyed the gifts and graces of Jesus, the seventy who served with the mission of Jesus, the twelve who followed the call of Christ, the three who knew the depths of Jesus, and the one (John) who experienced the closest intimacy with Jesus.  By examining the traits of each circle, Crosby helps the reader see what obstacles may be keeping us from moving closer in our relationship with Jesus.  Not only that, the reader is exposed to the measureless grace of Jesus shown to each one, regardless of what where they are in the six circles of relationship.

I found this book to be refreshing and encouraging.  It left me eager to draw closer to Jesus in my own walk, starting where I am and moving closer and closer.  I am one who can beat myself up over short-comings and failures in my walk with Jesus.  Crosby reminds me, and all of us, the remarkable grace of Jesus continually calling us to follow Him closer and closer each day.

I was not familiar with Crosby prior to reading this book, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I was very pleased and grateful to have read this book.
