I can't believe it is already Easter week! Easter always presents its own set of challenges, not unlike Christmas. This my 16th Easter as a pastor. So, how do you communicate the truth of the death and resurrection of Jesus in a different way than the previous 15? How do we keep this central event from becoming so common that is becomes meaningless?
Well, I think part of the problem is thinking that we have to communicate it in a new way. Sometimes, keeping it simple and basic is exactly what we need. My message for our Good Friday service is called, "Jesus Paid it All" and Easter will be "He Has Risen." Unoriginal? Very. Yet those combined 7 words are the most important 7 words we can wrap our hearts and minds around.
I pray that this week will be filled with your own deep reflecting on those 7 words.
